Let’s talk a little bit about how to avoid being scammed by a psychic reading, appointment or phone call. If you’ve had any experiences with “fake” psychic readings, you are unquestionably a bit nervous about scheduling your next!
Why? Because after feeling like you are being duped or deceived by a reader, it’s easy to start to believe that the whole enchilada is one big fraud!
It’s not….and there are many good psychics out there who are not only supremely talented, but who can help give you an amazing, life changing experience should you keep an open mind. But there are a few simple “clues” that a psychic is NOT the real deal, and the fastest sign of sneakiness is unquestionably the “cold reading” techniques employed by some shady “psychics”.
So what are the types of techniques you should be on guard for when you call (or visit) a new site or service?
Textbook Cold Reading Techniques: What are they? Leading questions. Curiosity questions. (a good psychic won’t be “curious” during a reading, and will instead focus on “yes” or “no”, or other non intrusive or manipulative back and forth dialog) Long periods of SILENCE. (many cold readers are taught that during silence….the “sitter” being you, will start to talk just because they are uncomfortable!)
The good news is, once you recognize cold reading techniques being practiced, they really aren’t that hard to identify, and ignore accordingly. (and move on to someone more ethical, honest and talented)
Stay STILL! Body Language Tells Can Spill the Beans: Your body language can often tell volumes about who you are…..even without you having to say a word! This is one of the reasons we prefer phone readings, or other “filters” which can remove this obstacle all together. But the bottom line is, in person….fidgeting, moving nervously, hair tugging, eye rolling and MORE are all signs that a “fake psychic” can use to get into your head, even when you haven’t moved your lips an inch!
